      Yes, definitely! Depression can make us sleep too little or too much. Having trouble falling asleep, having increased REM sleep, and decreased sleep efficiency (meaning that we don’t get enough high quality sleep) are all common symptoms seen in people with depression. On the other hand, a defining symptom of depression is fatigue or loss of energy, so people with depression might spend a long time in bed napping or sleeping. Not sleeping properly (whatever looks normal for you) is one of the warning signs for depression which we look for in people.
