In my current role as a research scientist, I have less contact with teenagers other than to ask then to conduct cognitive tests and answer questions about their lifestyle and mental health. So ironically, even though I am now researching mental health issues such as anxiety and anger, I am working less helping teenagers with their problems than when I used to be a teacher.

There is often a tension between what a researcher does and what a clinician (e.g. a doctor does). I am part of an observational study – which means we don’t intervene and help teenagers when we conduct the study; we want to find information and findings after the study is completed that will help all teenagers in the globe.
